PE and Sport Premium

PE and Sport Premium

At Gade Valley, we recognise the contribution of PE and sport to the health and well-being of our pupils. We believe that a varied PE curriculum and extra-curricular activities contribute to the holistic development of our pupils and through participation, our pupils build and learn more about our key values such as: confidence, teamwork, attentiveness, motivation and perseverance. Furthermore, we believe that physical activity has numerous benefits for our pupils' physical health, as well as their mental wellbeing, and when our pupils are physically active they are happier and more resilient. It is our experience that pupils who have access to sufficient daily activity show improved behaviour and academic achievement.

The primary school PE and sport funding will enable us to: continue raising standards in P.E. and school sport; increase the participation and opportunities offered to our pupils; and develop pupils' health and fitness by increasing opportunities for them to be active.

What is the PE and Sport Premium?

The Government is providing funding of £320 million to improve the provision of physical education and sport for all pupils and to encourage healthy, active lifestyles. This funding is being jointly provided by the Departments for Education, Health and Culture, Media and Sport, and will see money going directly to primary school Headteachers to spend on improving the quality of sport, physical activity and PE for all their pupils.  Each school, for the 2023/24 academic year, will receive £16,000 plus an extra £10 per pupil (in year 1-6)  - here at Gade Valley that will mean around £17,740.
