We have five Houses at Gade Valley Primary School – Fox, Squirrel, Badger, Hedgehog and Red kite.
The Houses have been named after animals that we commonly see in our school grounds - they were chosen by the children.
Each pupil in the school is placed in a House group (siblings are together). The Houses are led principally by children in Years 5 and 6. In addition, each House will have two teachers who are the Heads of the House: they oversee meetings and boost the profile of each House. Heads of Houses are drawn in an assembly each year through the 'sorting hat'.
House points are given out for good behaviour, courtesy, attitude, CHAMP skills and good work. Each week, in sharing assembly, a trophy is awarded to the House with the most points for that week. The trophy will be displayed (with the House colours) in the entrance area. Pupils receive a certificate in celebration assembly for every one hundred House points that they receive.
The House system is used for many different activities in schools such as, sport competitions, fundraising and assemblies.
