Final GOAL Day of Year 3

We were very happy that the heatwave had ended for our last GOAL Day of the year on 30th June. The children joined in with the first ever Nature Discovery Week by looking for examples of ‘hidden nature’, including the smallest sign of nature, a repeated pattern in nature, a plant in an unexpected place, a place without nature and something new to them. They found some things that really surprised them, including a butterfly in the process of emerging from its cocoon! The class also showed how much their orienteering skills have improved with a maths activity using the QR codes around the school site. Great work everyone!

Sports Week fun!

The children were amazing during our Goalball session this morning as part of Sports Week. They had to stay completely silent for this Paralympic event - it wasn't quite the same for Dodgeball later on!

PE - Outdoor Adventurous Activities (OAA)

To finish off our PE unit from last half term, Year 3 worked in teams to navigate their way round a grid of coloured cones. They had to follow directions using compass points and draw their route on a plan of the grid. We saw lots of really good teamwork skills - well done everyone!

Trip to Victorian Museum

Year 3 loved their trip to the British Schools Museum in Hitchin this week. They experienced life in a Victorian classroom, looked round the old headmaster's house and took part in a Victorian PE session called 'drill.' It was really fun but we prefer school how it is now!
