Good morning Year 4!

I hope you all had a lovely weekend.  It was so lovely to have the sunshine with us for most of the weekend - I must admit, I did spend most of my weekend outside. I hope you managed to get lots of fresh air too.

I have a few reminders for you today...

Did you see the Daily Briefing on Thursday?  If you haven't done so already, remember to submit your answers for the Secret Reader . Listen out for the results during tomorrow's briefing.

It's a new week which means it's the start of a new book. I'm currently reading ' The Miraculous Journey of Edward Tulane' by Kate DiCamillo.

Have you read this book before? If you haven't, I do recommend it. The book is about a girl called Abilene who loves her blue china rabbit. The china rabbit is called Edward Tulane and he is extremely vain and only loves himself. He goes on many adventures after falling overboard while travelling from New York to London. He meets many different people and takes on many different jobs along the way but only then does he learn what it is to truly love. What have you been reading? Remember to read 5 times this week to be in for a chance to earn a  Golden Ticket. Don't forget to send in  your illustration of your favourite character and your book review. The display is looking fab!

We have a new and exciting challenge this week to ensure we still climb the leaderboard. A new tournament for next week – Girls vs Boys

We have a 1 hour slot on a specific day and then a whole school battle on Thursday. The results will be posted on Friday Morning.

Wednesday, 17th June

Good morning Year 4!

I hope you all had a great day yesterday and enjoyed the sunshine. It was little chilly outside but at least it stayed lovely and dry.

Did you see the Daily Briefing yesterday? Did you know it was Florence Nightingale's birthday? I wonder if you can find out some facts about her and email me them.

Also, Miss Knott gave a reminder to look at the Oxford Owl website which allows you to read a wide range of free eBooks. You will need to ask your parents to help you because they will need to sign up but it is completely free. Another website which allows you to read free eBooks is myON  which offers thousands of fiction and non-fiction books. Your parents will not need to sign up to access books on this website. I hope you enjoy reading lots of different books! Remember to email in your book review.

Thank you to those of you who sent me work and sent your birthday wishes. It really did make yesterday feel special and put HUGE smile on my face. Remember to keep sending me your work and also if you have any questions that would like answered in today's briefing to year4@gadevalley.herts.sch.uk.

Good morning Year 4!

I hope you all enjoyed your activities yesterday. Did you enjoy the message from Mrs Reeve and I? We hope it put a smile on your faces! We were in school yesterday - it was a quiet and strange place without you all. We can't wait to see you and we're hoping you're keeping safe and well!

Did you watch the Gade Valley Daily Briefing yesterday? Mr Barron was discussing about Growth Mindset and whether or not you view life as a glass half full (optimistic attitude) or a glass half empty (pessimistic attitude).  I think that children, staff and governors of Gade Valley view life with a glass half full view, particularly with Gade Valley's Got Talent. I  was very impressed to see so many of you taking part and it was so lovely to see everybody -  it brought happy tears to my eyes when I was watching it. Well done to everyone who participated.

Captain Tom Moore, who turns 100 today, is another person who definitely views life as a glass half full with his perseverance and motivated attitude in raising an astonishing £29 million for the NHS by walking 100 laps. What an incredible man he is and I'm sure you will also be wishing him a very Happy Birthday today.

If you haven't already, please keep sending me your proudest pieces  to year4@gadevalley.herts.sch.uk and I will upload it to our slideshow. Thank you to those who already have and thank you parents for all your support!

Don't forget there's a list of artists pages below. just simply click on their name and it will take you to their art page and you can see what artwork they have been doing. You may get inspired by their work!

Also, visit the Secret Reader page today to guess who is reading the story. Have fun! As well as this, you can now access Accelerated Reader from home to do your quizzes for your AR books! Furthermore, the National Literacy Trust has launched their stories called Book of Hopes. You click on the link to read these for free! Enjoy!
