Science at Gade Valley Primary School

Science is taught following National curriculum guidelines with an emphasis on pupil led investigation and scientific enquiry. We aim to allow children to develop their scientific skills such as questioning, predicting, hypothesising and making conclusions. The children create a topic web at the start of a unit to explore what they already know and also tell the teacher what they would like to learn. Through practical cross curricular work, observation and problem solving the children will cover topics that include a range of early physics (e.g. forces) chemistry (e.g. reversible and irreversible change) and biology (e.g. growing plants).

Throughout science lessons, pupils are encouraged to develop their core skills of writing and Maths.
