Walking Through the Jungle - WOW Moment's,

Still image for this video

Hello Nursery,

It looks like we're going to get lots of rain this week which is perfect for our new Topic - Minibeasts.  Minibeasts love damp, wet conditions particularly slugs and snails.  Lots of people are scared or creepy-crawlies but spiders can be very useful in the garden and worms really don't want to be found.

Have a go at some of the different activities and see if you can fall in love with minibeasts this week.

Don't forget to send in a picture of your reading record to golden.tickets@gadevalley.herts.sch.uk and post some pictures of your learning on your Tapestry Learning Journal.  We really love seeing all the fun you are having at home.

If you need more challenges this week, check out some new activities on the Wellbeing Page and see if you can guess the Secret Readers this week.   Take a look at some of the Maths Lessons on the Oak National Academy here.

In school we have loved practising our Yoga skills by following the Cosmic Kids Yoga lessons on youtube.  There are so many to choose from.  Try this one - All About Bugs.  click here

We hope you have a fantastic week and enjoy looking for bugs!

Stay safe and have fun.

Home Learning w/c 11th May  -  Harry and the Bucketful of Dinosaurs

Good morning Nursery,

I hope you all had a lovely weekend enjoying the sunshine and celebrating VE Day with your family and maybe some of your neighbours.  I’d love to know how you enjoyed the day.  Perhaps you could put some pictures on you Tapestry Learning Journal.  Thank you for sending in your VE Day bunting pictures, I hope you enjoyed the slideshow of all the wonderful bunting we received.

This week we are reading ‘Harry and the Bucketful of Dinosaurs’.  Listen to the story by clicking here

Join in with our Dinosaur song stomping, counting and roaring as loud as you can.

I’ve found lots of Dinosaur activities this week so you can pick and choose which activities you would like to do.  Try to do at least one a day and upload a picture of your favourite activity as a ‘WOW Moment’ on your Tapestry Learning Journal by the end of the week.

I found my granddaughters favourite dinosaur in the toy box, I think it’s a Stegosaurus but I’m not sure.  Maybe you could help me?  Do you know what type of dinosaur it is?  Maybe you could find out and let me know.

I know some of you have been working on your letter sounds already so I’ve included some phonics activities this week.  We had learnt some of the songs but listen again and see if you can teach your family the action for each sound starting with  s, a, t, p, i, n.

Finally, try to keep practising writing your name.  Lots of you are including your names on your work and your letter formation is really improving.  Keep up the good work!

If you’ve read five times this week, don’t forget to send a copy of your reading record to golden.tickets@gadevalley.herts.sch.uk  to be in with a chance of winning a delicious Wonka Bar.

We are so proud of you all for working so hard and having so much fun.  Hopefully it won’t be long until we’re all back together again but in the meantime stay safe, keep well and enjoy your playtime.

We miss you all very much and look forward to seeing you all soon.

Some of your wonderful work based on The Lighthouse Keeper's Lunch and Funny Bones.

Week commencing 4th May 2020

Good Morning Nursery,

We hope you all had a lovely weekend and had the chance to spend sometime outside in between the rain showers.  The rain was certainly needed by the plants and during my walk on Saturday I noticed how green and heathy all the trees and flowers were looking.

This week Mrs Simons has asked the whole school to help celebrate the V.E. Day 75th anniversary by contributing to a slideshow of bunting.  She would like you or your family to decorate an A4 sized piece of bunting, similar to the picture, but decorate it however you wish.  Take a photo of you holding your bunting and email it to nursery@gadevalley.herts.sch.uk   by Wednesday, 6th May.  You will be able to view everyone's bunting on the school website on Friday.

In the meantime, have a look at the various links on the Home Learning page.  Listen to the Daily Briefing each afternoon, check out the reading competition on the Golden Ticket page and don't forget to send a photo of your reading record for a chance to win a Wonka Bar in the Golden Ticket Draw on Friday.

This week we are reading Funny Bones. What do you know about skeletons?  Listen to the story and have a go at learning the Skeleton Dance.

We hope you enjoy the story and look forward to seeing all your 'Wow Moments' this week.

Have fun and stay safe.

Mrs Speer, Mrs Hale and Mrs Walker.
