Our Maths Learning at Gade Valley
In Reception, the pupils have been leanring about repeated patterns. This work in linked to the book "The very hungry caterpillar" by Eric Carle. The pupils have also been working hard to develop their number formaiton.
In Year 4, the pupils have enjoyed learning about decimals in a real-life context: the 'Decimal Cafe'! The have also enjoyed the challenge of preparing for the Year 4 Muliplication Check.
In Year 1, the pupisl enjoyed using laces, sprinkles and icing to show halves and quarters! They particualrly enmjoyed eating their biscuits at the end of the lesson!
In maths, Year 5 have enjoyed playing games to help their learning. One example is a division game using a dice to generate the numbers. The pupils then had to use their knowledge to put the digits in the best possible place to win the game.



In Year 3, we have been learning different methods to add and subtract numbers. We have used partitioning, mental methods, column addition and counting up.




In Year 2, the pupils have been learning to understand 2-digit numbers. They used base 10, numicon, counters and partitioning to show the value of different numbers.
