WEDNESDAY 25TH MARCH - HERTFORDSHIRE COUNTY COUNCIL

Hertfordshire County Council has received reports that a scam email is being sent to parents, asking them for bank details if they have children who qualify for Free School Meals - Please do not give any details to anyone - Gade Valley School hold your details securely and communicate ONLY with HCC via secure file sharing.

We would like to remind you  not to give out private information (such as bank details or passwords), reply to text messages, download attachments or click on any links in emails if you’re not sure they’re genuine.  Please see this government link for further helpful information: https://www.gov.uk/report-suspicious-emails-websites-phishing

MONDAY 23RD MARCH 2020 - MR D BARRON

Following tonight's announcement by our Prime Minister, I must stress the importance of social distancing.  As from tomorrow, we will only be offering critical childcare for those that desperately need it.  That means we will only accept children if both parents are key workers or if single parents are key workers.  You must follow advice and only leave your homes if absolutely necessary.

Government Advice & Information on Coronavrius

You can help to slow the spread of Coronavirus!

  • Make sure you and your children follow these general principles to prevent spreading any respiratory virus:

  • Wash your hands often – with soap and water for at least 20 seconds, or an alcohol-based sanitiser if soap and water aren’t available.

  • Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth with unwashed hands.

  • Avoid close contact with people who are sick.

  • If you feel unwell, stay at home and don’t attend work or school.

  • Cover your cough or sneeze with a tissue, then throw the tissue in a bin.

  • Clean and disinfect frequently touched objects and surfaces in the home.

  • If you’re worried about your symptoms, please call NHS 111 – don’t go directly to your GP or other healthcare environment.
Please click here to access a NHS video showing the most effective way of washing your hands

School Closure Procedures

If we receive a directive from Hertfordshire County Council, in light of the Coronavirus, to close our school, these are the ways in which we will inform you:

  1. Website – www.gadevalley.herts.sch.uk under ‘Parents – Useful information’
  2. Message on school gate.
  3. Text via groupcall.
  4. Marvellous Me Parent App - Sign up details will be sent via your child's book bag on
    12th March 2020.
  5. Everbridge Notification System (which will include Radio stations)
    (see details below).

The Everbridge Notification System (HCC)

In the event of severe weather, a public emergency or unforeseen circumstances, it may be necessary for a school to close or partially close.

In order to ensure parents and guardians are informed as quickly as possible of anything that may have an impact on a normal school day, this notification system has been put in place to enable messages from schools to be sent immediately via text message, email and a voice message (if required).

Please take 5 minutes to register your details for any Hertfordshire school your child attends so that you can receive immediate information and updates.
