At Gade Valley, we recognise the contribution of PE to the health and well-being of our children. We believe that a varied PE curriculum and extra-curricular activities contribute to the holistic development of our children and through participation, our children build and learn more about our key values such as: confidence, teamwork, attentiveness, motivation and perseverance.
Our Primary School Sport’s Funding will enable us to continue and extend our provision through utilising the expertise of additional sports professionals, providing more extra-curricular opportunities, entering into more competitive sports competitions and training our staff to deliver in-house quality PE sessions.
Our overall aim is to raise standards in P.E. and school sport, increasing the participation and opportunities offered to our children. We aim to provide higher quality lessons and improved learning for all.
The Government is providing funding of £150 million per annum for academic years from 2013/14, to 2019/20 to improve provision of physical education and sport in primary schools. This funding is being jointly provided by the Departments for Education, Health and Culture, Media and Sport, and will see money going directly to primary school Headteachers to spend on improving the quality of sport and PE for all their children. The sport funding can only be spent on sport and PE provision in schools. Each school will receive £8,000 plus an extra £5 per pupil each year - here at Gade Valley that will mean around £9,180 a year.
